平遥古城，听雨楼，春节。初老太太带着八个女儿正在吃团圆饭。下乡离家八年在北大荒插队的七凤突然归来还怀了身孕，听雨楼里炸开了锅。七凤死活不肯说出孩子的来由。后来在患难中结识了屠宰场杀猪的杨为健组成了家庭。 三凤和八凤在街上做生意，倒卖粮票被街道人保组长五凤抓住。八凤打了联防员，逃到在广东的二凤家。从此，三姐妹结下了恩怨。听雨楼里，初家的八个女儿为了生计不断发生着矛盾和故事。改革开放刚刚开始，人们为着奔富日子引发出一幕幕悲喜剧。。A cave in of a local canal tunnel under restoration reveals the skeletons of eight individuals. While most of the skeletons are from a cave in when the canal was under construction in the 19th century, one is obviously of a more recent vintage.
